In the wake of the car bomb explosion near Red Fort in Delhi that claimed several lives, Odisha has been placed on high alert. Police across major cities including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Konark, Nuapada, Berhampur, Sambalpur, and Jagatsinghpur have intensified security measures to prevent any untoward incident.

Security Tightened Across Public Spaces

Following directives from DGP Arun Bothra Khurania, security has been stepped up at railway stations, bus stands, major hotels, tourist sites, and public gathering places across the state.
In Bhubaneswar, police personnel were seen checking vehicles and conducting late-night searches at major intersections, stations, and crowded areas. Dog squads and bomb disposal units were deployed to inspect trains and passenger belongings at the Bhubaneswar Railway Station.

DGP Reviews Security at Bali Yatra

With thousands of people participating in the Bali Yatra festival in Cuttack, the DGP personally visited the venue to assess the situation. He directed police officers to maintain strict vigilance and ensure smooth crowd management. Additional forces have been stationed at key entry points and parking areas.

Puri and Cuttack Under Special Watch

In Puri, high alert has been declared at the Jagannath Temple, railway station, bus stand, and sea beach areas including Swargadwar and the Grand Road. Police patrols have been increased, and all IICs (Inspectors-in-Charge) have been instructed to stay alert and monitor every suspicious activity.

In Cuttack, police have reinforced security around the railway station, where flag marches and intensified checking are being carried out by the Railway Protection Force (RPF). Passenger luggage is being thoroughly checked before entry.

Bhubaneswar: Night Searches and Vehicle Checks

In the capital city, Bhubaneswar Police conducted late-night inspections at major junctions, markets, and crowded areas. Vehicles are being stopped and searched one by one as part of a statewide security drive. Senior officials stated that the measures are purely precautionary but necessary in the aftermath of the Delhi explosion.

Nationwide Alert After Delhi Blast

Following the Delhi car blast, the Union Home Ministry has asked all states to strengthen intelligence sharing and coordinate with central agencies like the NIA. Odisha Police officials said they are maintaining close contact with central intelligence units and are prepared for any emergency response.
