Land Services Closer to Citizens

Odisha is set to take a major step toward simplifying land transactions. Starting November 1, citizens will be able to register and complete land sales or purchases directly at their local tehsil offices, removing the need to visit sub-registrar offices. The initiative is designed to reduce red tape and make the process more citizen-friendly.

A “Giant Leap” for Accessibility

Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari announced that the system will initially cover 44 tehsil offices across the state. “This is a giant leap for service accessibility,” he said while unveiling the programme. The remaining 273 tehsils are expected to be integrated by December, completing the state-wide rollout.

Chief Minister to Launch Programme

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will formally launch the new system, marking what officials describe as the beginning of a “new era” in Odisha’s land governance. Citizens can now book appointment slots online, then directly visit the tehsil to complete their registration without long queues or delays.

Digital Governance in Rural Odisha

According to Minister Pujari, the new approach will particularly benefit rural citizens, where excessive paperwork often causes delays in land transactions. The digitised model is expected to reduce disputes, improve transparency, and accelerate land transfers.
