The Hyderabad Cybercrime Police have registered a case against Meta India Head Arun Srinivas and several Facebook and Instagram accounts over allegations of circulating objectionable, digitally manipulated, and AI-generated content targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media.

The case was registered following separate complaints filed by businessman S. Aravind Reddy and Telangana BJP worker T. Saikiran Goud, who alleged that several social media accounts shared morphed videos, edited photographs, and offensive comments about the Prime Minister during a recent protest.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the complainants alleged that the AI-generated and digitally altered content was defamatory in nature and had the potential to mislead the public, incite violence, and disturb public peace. The police have initiated an investigation into the allegations and the role of the social media platforms in the dissemination of the content.

Meta Tightens Review Process

The development comes amid heightened scrutiny of Meta after a video posted from the Prime Minister’s official social media account was temporarily blocked in a separate incident.

Following strong objections from the Central Government over that episode, Meta has reportedly strengthened its internal review mechanism. The company has clarified that posts from high-profile accounts, including that of the Prime Minister, will now require approval from at least two senior officials before moderation decisions are taken.

Notices Issued to Social Media Accounts

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police have also issued notices to several social media accounts and news portals that allegedly posted abusive or objectionable content against the Prime Minister during the recent “Sansad Chalo” protest and demonstrations at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

The accounts have reportedly been directed to remove the disputed content, while authorities continue to examine whether any laws relating to misinformation, defamation, or public order have been violated.

The case has sparked widespread debate across the country over the regulation of AI-generated content, the responsibilities of social media platforms, and the balance between freedom of expression and the prevention of misinformation and defamatory material online.

The political fallout from the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan continued on Saturday, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi even as opposition parties hailed the resignation as a victory for protesting students and democratic accountability.

According to sources, Shah met Prime Minister Modi following Pradhan’s resignation. Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh, who have been holding discussions with protesting students over the past week, are also scheduled to meet the Home Minister to review the situation and discuss the way forward.

Meanwhile, opposition leaders welcomed Pradhan’s resignation, crediting sustained student protests and public pressure for the development.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge congratulated students and opposition parties, saying the resignation reflected the power of democratic protest. He said the voices of India’s students had ultimately defeated what he described as an “arrogant government.”

Kharge stated that young people had taken to the streets to demand a stronger and more transparent education system, calling the resignation “a victory of truth” and “a defeat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stubbornness.” He further alleged that the government had used force against student protesters and demanded that the Prime Minister apologise to the students.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said Pradhan’s resignation demonstrated that the Modi-Shah leadership was “not invincible” and that public pressure could compel accountability.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor described the resignation as proof that accountability cannot be avoided indefinitely in a democracy. He said the decision came after weeks of peaceful and determined protests by students, parents and citizens across the country.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav called the resignation a significant victory for India’s youth. However, he stressed that all political parties should learn from the episode by strengthening the integrity of competitive examinations and creating greater employment opportunities for young people.

The resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan has intensified the political debate over examination reforms, transparency in recruitment processes and the government’s handling of student concerns, with both the ruling alliance and the opposition presenting contrasting narratives over the development.

According to sources, the reshuffle follows an extensive review of ministers’ performance chaired by the Prime Minister. Senior BJP leaders have also held a series of consultations to finalise the changes. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is understood to have held important discussions with President Droupadi Murmu as part of the process. The revamp is also expected to align the government with the BJP’s newly reorganised party structure under its national leadership.

One of the key factors driving the reshuffle is the BJP’s “one person, one post” policy. As a result, Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary, who has been assigned organisational responsibilities in Uttar Pradesh, and Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, now heading the Delhi BJP, are reportedly set to leave the Union Council of Ministers.

Meanwhile, despite the completion of his Rajya Sabha term on June 21, Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu is expected to continue in the Cabinet for the time being, with the BJP leadership reportedly considering his role important for the party’s strategy ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections.

The reshuffle has also gained urgency following the recent resignation of Union Minister George Kurian, creating a vacancy that the government is expected to fill. Some Ministers of State may also be reassigned to organisational responsibilities within the party.

Significant changes are being discussed in several key ministries.
PM Kisan Scheme Supports Farmers’ Agricultural Needs

The PM Kisan Yojana is a flagship farmer welfare initiative of the Central Government that provides financial support to eligible farmers for agricultural activities.

Under the scheme, farmers receive a total assistance of ₹6,000 annually in three equal installments, which helps them purchase seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other essential agricultural inputs.

State-Level PM Kisan Event Held in Rairangpur

The state-level programme for distribution of PM Kisan assistance was organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment at Mahtab Bhawan Town Hall, Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj district.

The G7 Summit 2026 commenced today in Evian-les-Bains, France, bringing together leaders of the world’s most influential economies at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty. One of the key highlights of the opening day was the meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump, their first face-to-face interaction in 16 months.

During the summit’s official group photograph, Prime Minister Modi was seen standing in the front row alongside President Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron, reflecting India’s growing significance in global affairs.

Focus on Global Economy, Ukraine War and AI

The three-day summit is focusing heavily on stabilizing the global economy, controlling inflation, and strengthening international trade networks disrupted by recent conflicts and post-pandemic challenges. Leaders are also expected to discuss the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, with Canada and several G7 nations proposing stricter measures against Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet” used for transporting oil.

India has also expressed concerns over rising tensions in the Middle East and the security of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global energy route. Discussions with the United States are expected to include coordinated strategies to address these challenges.

Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, climate change, and green energy transitions are among the summit’s top priorities. G7 leaders are working with major technology companies to develop global frameworks for the safe and responsible use of AI.

India’s Expanding Global Role

Although not a permanent member of the G7, India was invited as a special guest. Prime Minister Modi emphasized India’s role as a bridge between developed and developing nations and reiterated the concerns of the Global South.

Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that the G7 no longer solely drives global governance, highlighting the growing importance of countries such as India and Brazil in addressing international challenges and shaping future global solutions.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump are set to hold bilateral talks on June 17 on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France, the White House confirmed on Saturday.

The meeting is expected to focus on key issues in India-US relations, including ongoing negotiations over a bilateral trade agreement and broader strategic cooperation between the two countries.

First Meeting in 16 Months

The upcoming interaction will mark the first face-to-face meeting between the two leaders in nearly 16 months.

Their last major engagement came after Trump’s victory in the November 2024 US presidential election, when Prime Minister Modi visited the United States. Since then, both nations have maintained diplomatic engagement, but several issues have emerged that have tested bilateral ties.

Modi to Attend G7 Summit at Macron’s Invitation

Prime Minister Modi will participate in the G7 Summit on June 16 and 17 at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.

During the summit, Modi is expected to hold discussions with leaders of G7 nations, partner countries, and international organizations on a range of global challenges.

Key topics likely to feature in the discussions include global cooperation, sustainable economic growth, climate and energy security, and the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence.

Trade Deal Likely to Dominate Bilateral Talks

According to US officials, one of the primary subjects of discussion between Modi and Trump is expected to be the proposed India-US trade agreement.

Negotiations over the deal have been underway for several months, with both sides exploring ways to expand economic cooperation and increase bilateral trade.

American officials have described India and the United States as natural economic partners with significant potential to deepen commercial ties.

Recent Differences in Bilateral Relations

Despite the strong strategic partnership between the two countries, India-US relations have witnessed some friction in recent months.

Areas of disagreement have included Washington’s tariff policies affecting Indian exports, Trump’s repeated claims regarding his role in facilitating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan during the 2025 Operation Sindoor crisis, and differences over India’s continued purchase of Russian oil.

India has consistently rejected claims of external mediation in its bilateral matters and has maintained its independent foreign policy stance.

Trade Agreement May Still Take Time

US officials have indicated that while discussions on the trade pact are progressing, the agreement may not be finalized immediately.

They noted that President Trump has traditionally favored trade deals that provide clear benefits to the United States and is unlikely to approve an agreement unless he considers it advantageous.

As a result, while the summit meeting may help advance negotiations, expectations of a final breakthrough remain limited.

Strengthening a Strategic Partnership

The Modi-Trump meeting comes at a significant time as both nations seek to strengthen economic cooperation and strategic coordination amid evolving global challenges.

Observers believe the talks could help address recent differences while laying the groundwork for deeper collaboration in trade, technology, defence, and regional security in the years ahead.
