Under the new system, every land document will carry a unique QR code. When scanned through a smartphone, the code will display complete land details — including ownership records, location, transaction history, and any pending legal disputes.

The move aims to help buyers instantly verify the authenticity of documents and prevent fraud cases such as forged papers or multiple sales of the same property. Officials said the initiative leverages digital technology through coordination between the state and central governments.

Instant Alerts to Prevent Illegal Transfers

To further strengthen oversight, any attempt at suspicious or unauthorised land transfer will trigger immediate alerts to local revenue authorities, including the Tehsildar and Revenue Inspector.

This real-time monitoring system is expected to help officials intervene quickly and stop fraudulent transactions before they are completed.

Statewide Land Survey to Update Records

Alongside digital reforms, the government will soon begin a comprehensive land survey across Odisha. The survey will aim to accurately demarcate government and private land, update outdated records, and build a robust digital land database.

Officials believe the exercise will help resolve long-pending land disputes, prevent encroachments, and improve overall land administration in the state.

Zero Tolerance for Corruption

Minister Pujari emphasised that the revenue department will follow a strict zero-tolerance policy against corruption. Mechanisms are being introduced for citizens to report bribery or irregularities, including a dedicated WhatsApp channel.

The government hopes that the combined steps — digital verification, real-time alerts, and updated land records — will make property transactions in Odisha safer, faster, and more transparent, while dealing a strong blow to land mafias and fraudsters.
