The Odisha government has decided to provide revised copies of textbooks to all schools following reports of multiple errors in school books. District Education Officers (DEOs) and school headmasters will receive the corrected versions, and students will continue their studies based on the revised copies.

School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond made the announcement while responding to the controversy over mistakes found in textbooks. He said that a high-level committee was formed to investigate the issue, and necessary action has been taken based on the committee’s findings. The Chief Minister has also personally intervened in the matter and directed officials to take appropriate steps.

The minister clarified that withdrawing and replacing all textbooks immediately is not possible. Instead, corrected copies containing the necessary changes will be sent to schools and education officials. Students will be taught according to the revised content to ensure that they do not face difficulties due to the errors.

According to the minister, the corrections will be made based on the 14 points identified by the investigation committee. The revised content will be incorporated into the textbooks, and teachers will follow the updated material during classroom teaching.

The textbook error issue had raised concerns among parents, students and education experts, who questioned the quality-check process before the books were distributed. The government has assured that steps are being taken to prevent such mistakes in the future.

The minister further stated that additional action will be taken after reviewing the final investigation report. Authorities are also expected to strengthen the verification process for textbooks to maintain accuracy and quality in educational materials provided to students across the state.
