Individuals no longer need to visit offices or depend on agents to make corrections, as the Income Tax Department now allows PAN updates through its official digital platforms.

Official Portals for PAN Data Correction

PAN card corrections can be done through the authorised websites of Protean (formerly NSDL) and UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited (UTIITSL). Both platforms offer identical services and are officially recognised by the Income Tax Department.

Applicants need to select the option “Changes or Corrections in PAN Data” and enter basic details including PAN number, date of birth, name and mobile number. Once submitted, a 15-digit acknowledgement or token number is generated, which can be used to track the application status.

Step-by-Step Online Correction Process

After receiving the token number, applicants can proceed to correct any incorrect field by entering the accurate information. The next step involves uploading scanned copies of required supporting documents, including:

• Proof of identity

• Proof of address

• Proof of date of birth (passport, birth certificate, etc.)

• Latest passport-size photograph

• Signature

Once the documents are uploaded, applicants are required to pay a nominal fee of approximately ₹110 to complete the process.

After submission, applicants are advised to save the acknowledgement slip carefully. This document helps in tracking the application and serves as proof of submission until the corrected PAN card is issued.
