Prime Minister Narendra Modi made several major announcements for India’s youth during his 80th Independence Day address from the Red Fort, focusing on artificial intelligence, competitive exam preparation and sports development.

1 Crore Youth to Get AI Training

Highlighting the growing importance of artificial intelligence and data-driven technology, PM Modi announced that one crore young Indians will be provided AI skills training.

He said the country must prepare its youth for the future and transform India into a global hub for innovation. According to the Prime Minister, the era of data centres and AI has arrived, making advanced technology skills increasingly important for the younger generation.

Free Coaching for Competitive Exams

PM Modi also announced plans to create a network offering free coaching for competitive examinations. The initiative is aimed particularly at helping students from poor and middle-class families access quality preparation and compete on an equal footing.

Sports Talent Hunt for Children

The Prime Minister also placed strong emphasis on developing India’s sporting talent. He said the Khelo India mission is already creating opportunities for young athletes and highlighted India’s ambition to host the 2036 Olympics.

PM Modi said India needs to identify and nurture talent from an early age to build a strong pool of athletes for 2036. A dedicated talent hunt will focus on children aged 5 to 15 years, with training designed to develop them into high-quality athletes.

Preparing for Global Sporting Events

PM Modi said efforts are underway to strengthen India’s presence in sports disciplines where the country currently has limited participation. He also highlighted India’s plans to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, featuring around 40 sports.

3. Technology and Innovation: Greater focus is needed on digital and communication technologies, research and innovation.
4. Gati Shakti: India must build faster and seamless connectivity to accelerate economic growth and infrastructure development.
5. Defence Strength: The country needs to expand next-generation defence technologies, including drones and supersonic systems.
6. Green and Blue Economy: PM Modi highlighted India’s vast potential in green energy and the blue economy and called for better utilisation of these resources.
7. Soft Power: Yoga, Ayurveda, holistic healthcare, creative industries and tourism will play an important role in strengthening India’s global influence.

India as a Global Manufacturing Hub

PM Modi said India must emerge as a trusted hub in global supply chains by meeting international standards in price, quality and production capacity.

He stressed the need to expand India’s capabilities across sectors such as textiles, machinery and pharmaceuticals. He also highlighted the goal of strengthening India’s textile industry from Ludhiana to Tiruppur.

Call for a New Direction

The Prime Minister said India needs major changes in society, agriculture and traditional systems to achieve the vision of a developed nation. He called for a new direction and collective effort to build a Viksit Bharat.

India’s Defence Strength Growing Through Indigenous Technology

PM Modi said India has made remarkable progress in strengthening its security infrastructure. He mentioned that indigenous defence production has increased the capabilities of the armed forces and enhanced national security.

Highlighting recent developments, he said India has successfully manufactured the C-295 aircraft, describing it as a major achievement under the Make in India initiative.

According to the Prime Minister, the aircraft represents more than just a machine; it reflects India’s technological capabilities, confidence and growing self-reliance.

He also mentioned that around 40 C-295 aircraft are being manufactured in India, marking a significant step forward in the country’s aerospace sector.

New Naval Ships Strengthen Maritime Security

During the programme, PM Modi also spoke about the induction of three new naval vessels into the Indian Navy.

He recalled his participation in a naval programme in Kolkata, where INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak and INS Agraay were inducted into the Navy fleet.

The Prime Minister said these developments show India’s growing capability to protect its maritime interests and strengthen security from the sea to the skies.

Apart from defence, PM Modi also spoke about achievements in other fields, including yoga, employment and social initiatives.
