The Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Bhubaneswar, is set to host the 2nd edition of the flagship national health summit — ‘KIMS National Conclave 2025’ — on November 22, bringing together leading voices from across India and overseas to deliberate on the future of healthcare delivery.

Theme: “Future of Medical Care and Progress”

The conclave will focus on the evolving landscape of healthcare in the country amid rising disease burdens, rapid digitalisation, inequitable access, and the increasing need for resilient and patient-centric health systems. Experts from clinical medicine, public health, policymaking, medical technology, and social transformation will be part of the high-level discussions.

Launch of ‘HERO Award’ to Honour Rural Healthcare Champions

A major highlight of this year’s conclave will be the inaugural ‘Health Empowerment in Rural Odisha (HERO) Award’, which will be conferred annually on eminent physicians of Odisha for their measurable contribution to the health and wellbeing of rural communities across the state.

Speaking on the objective of the conclave, Prof. (Dr.) Subrat Acharya, Pro-Chancellor of KIIT and noted gastroenterologist, said the aim is to ensure that “progress in medical treatment ultimately reaches the people.” He called for a rethinking of India’s healthcare delivery model, highlighting gaps in health promotion, disease prevention, communication, and locally relevant problem-solving that medical education traditionally overlooks.

Prof. Acharya stated that the summit intends to explore how clinical sciences, cellular science, and innovations can converge to enable translational research that drives real-world impact, going “beyond conventional medical thinking” and pushing India toward systems that are both state-of-the-art and affordable.
