A Historic Tribute to Mother India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a heartfelt tribute to the spirit of service by releasing a special ₹100 coin and a commemorative postage stamp during the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The event, organised by the Ministry of Culture, was held at Dr Ambedkar International Centre with the presence of Union Ministers, senior RSS leaders including General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, and thousands of swayamsevaks.

Symbolism of the Coin and Stamp

The Prime Minister expressed pride that, for the very first time, the face of Bharat Mata has appeared on the currency of independent India, alongside the lion emblem and saluting swayamsevaks. The special postage stamp commemorates the RSS’s historic participation in the 1963 Republic Day parade march, highlighting its devotion to the nation.

Navratri and Vijayadashami Significance

The event coincided with Mahanavami of Navratri. Extending greetings, Modi said that Vijayadashami represents the triumph of “justice over injustice and light over darkness,” aligning perfectly with the spirit of the occasion.

RSS as a Beacon of Service

In his passionate address, the Prime Minister described RSS as an institution where “common men become legends.” He recalled its role in the 1942 Quit India Movement, its endurance of colonial repression, and the false allegations faced after Independence—yet always remaining steadfast to the idea of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”

Shakhas as Centres of Growth

According to Modi, RSS shakhas are not just gatherings but hubs of humility, service, and holistic development, where the nation’s interests rise above everything else.

A Milestone Celebration

Blessing the swayamsevaks for their dedication, Modi called it a matter of great pride to be present at the centenary. The event concluded in an atmosphere of jubilation, with loud applause and confetti showers, marking both a milestone for RSS and a promise of a united, strong India.
