IIT Graduate Accused of Targeting Young Women Through Online Spiritual Sessions

A self-styled spiritual leader, identified as Abhishek Mishra alias Adikarta Narayan Das, has been arrested by police in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura for allegedly sexually exploiting women, blackmailing them and extorting money. The accused, an IIT graduate originally from Odisha, is alleged to have used online spiritual discourses and social media platforms to target educated young women and gain their trust.

Police investigations have revealed disturbing details about the activities of the 29-year-old, who portrayed himself as a religious guru while allegedly manipulating followers for personal gain.

Chhattisgarh Engineer Allegedly Lured Away from High-Paying Job

The case came to light after a complaint was filed by the father of a B.Tech graduate from Chhattisgarh. According to police, the young woman had been working at a reputed company in Mumbai and was earning a lucrative salary package.

She reportedly came into contact with Abhishek Mishra while working in Mumbai. Influenced by him, she resigned from her job and moved to Mathura to stay with him. Her family became concerned when she refused to return home despite repeated requests and counselling efforts.

Unable to convince their daughter, the family eventually approached the police seeking intervention.

Odisha Native Posed as ‘Adikarta Narayan Das’

Police said that Abhishek Mishra, a resident of Odisha, presented himself as a spiritual figure under the name Adikarta Narayan Das. He allegedly operated from Radha Kund in Mathura, where around 24 young men and women were associated with him at one point.

Investigators claim that many followers eventually distanced themselves after observing his behavior. Police also recovered photographs and videos of several women from his mobile phone during the investigation.

Based on the complaint filed by the Chhattisgarh woman, authorities launched an inquiry and subsequently arrested him.

IIT Roorkee Graduate Turned Self-Styled Spiritual Leader

According to police, Mishra completed his Mechanical Engineering degree from IIT Roorkee and later joined a leading company in Mumbai in 2023. His mother, a retired government school headmistress, had reportedly moved to Radha Kund in 2022 for religious pursuits.

After leaving his corporate job, Mishra shifted to Radha Kund to stay with his mother. The Chhattisgarh woman later joined him there. Police said the situation led to disagreements within the family, following which his mother returned to Odisha.

Social Media Used to Expand Network

Investigators allege that after settling in Mathura, Mishra began expanding his influence through social media platforms and virtual sessions conducted via Google Meet. He reportedly attracted young men and women by delivering spiritual and motivational talks and encouraging them to join his circle.

Police believe he gradually built a loyal following, with more than two dozen youths regularly participating in his activities.

More Women Come Forward with Allegations

As the investigation progressed, additional complaints surfaced against the accused. Two women approached Govardhan Police Station and alleged that Mishra had subjected them to physical and mental harassment after intoxicating them.

Police have included these allegations in the main case and are continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of the accused’s activities.

Police Probe Continues

Authorities are examining digital evidence, including videos, photographs and online communications recovered during the investigation. Police are also identifying other possible victims and associates connected to the case.

The arrest has sparked widespread discussion due to the accused’s educational background and the manner in which he allegedly used spirituality and online platforms to manipulate and exploit followers. Investigators have indicated that further legal action may follow as additional evidence emerges.
