Shubhendu Adhikari Chairs First Cabinet Meeting

After the Bharatiya Janata Party (Bharatiya Janata Party) formed the government in West Bengal, Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari chaired the first cabinet meeting and announced six major decisions aimed at governance, security, healthcare, and public administration.

Cabinet Thanks Election Commission and Voters

During the meeting, the Chief Minister thanked the Election Commission of India and the people of West Bengal for conducting and participating in a peaceful and successful election process. The cabinet expressed gratitude to voters and election officials for ensuring violence-free polling across the state.

Tribute Paid to 321 BJP Workers

The Chief Minister paid tribute to 321 BJP workers who allegedly lost their lives during the party’s political struggle in the state. He assured that justice would be delivered to the families of the deceased workers and stated that their sacrifices would not go in vain.

Land Allocation for BSF Border Fencing

One of the major decisions taken in the meeting was related to national security and border management. The state government announced that the process of allocating land to the Border Security Force (Border Security Force) for border fencing has begun.

The government has set a target of completing the land allocation process within 45 days.

Ayushman Bharat Scheme to Be Implemented

The BJP government has officially decided to implement the Ayushman Bharat health scheme in West Bengal. The party had promised during the election campaign that the central healthcare scheme would be introduced in the state if voted to power.

Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari said that West Bengal would formally join the Ayushman Bharat programme and that all major welfare schemes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi would now be implemented in the state.

Central Training for Government Employees

The new government has also allowed state government employees to participate in central training programmes and deputation opportunities, which, according to BJP leaders, were restricted during the previous government led by Mamata Banerjee.

Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Comes Into Force

The government announced that the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which had not yet been implemented in West Bengal, has now come into force in the state. All new criminal cases will now be registered under the new legal framework.

New Recruitment Process to Begin Soon

Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari claimed that there had been no major recruitment in the state since 2015. He announced that a new recruitment process would begin soon to generate employment opportunities and shape a “New Bengal.”

New Helpline and Public Grievance Portal

To address public complaints more effectively, the government has launched a new grievance redressal system, including a dedicated helpline number 1100 and a support portal.

The government has assured that complaints registered through the platform will be resolved within 30 days.

Focus on Governance and Administrative Reform

The first cabinet meeting highlighted the BJP government’s focus on healthcare, security, legal reforms, employment, and administrative transparency as it begins its tenure in West Bengal.
