A major update has emerged regarding the Odisha government’s Subhadra Scheme. Some eligible women beneficiaries who were left out of earlier instalments may receive Rs 25,000 in one go, covering five instalments.

The amount is expected to be transferred on August 28, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan, during the state-level Subhadra Scheme programme in Nayagarh.

According to Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, women who have submitted their applications by August 28 and are found eligible will receive the scheme benefits. More than one crore women are expected to benefit.

Rs 20,600 crore Already Transferred

According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the Odisha government has so far transferred around Rs 20,600 crore to women beneficiaries under four instalments of the Subhadra Scheme.

Around 1.02 crore women received the fourth instalment. The government is now targeting the transfer of the fifth instalment to eligible beneficiaries on August 28.

Eligible beneficiaries who missed previous instalments may receive the pending amount together. Those eligible for all five instalments could receive Rs 25,000 at once.

The government had earlier intensified verification and field inquiries to ensure that no eligible beneficiary was excluded from the scheme. The pending verification and field-level inquiries were completed by July 25, according to the information provided by the government.

What Is the Subhadra Scheme?

The Subhadra Scheme is one of the Odisha government’s major women’s empowerment initiatives. Under the scheme, eligible women are entitled to receive a total financial assistance of Rs 50,000 over five years.

The amount is provided at Rs 10,000 per year, in two instalments of Rs 5,000 each, and is directly transferred to the beneficiary’s bank account.

Women between 21 and 60 years of age are eligible, subject to the scheme’s other eligibility conditions.

The scheme aims to provide financial support to women and strengthen their economic independence.
