According to popular belief, Mother Earth undergoes a period of rest during Raja, symbolizing fertility and regeneration. As a result, agricultural activities are traditionally suspended during the festival. Raja also serves as a celebration of womanhood, with women being given respite from strenuous household and agricultural work.

Through vibrant cultural traditions, swings, songs, traditional attire, and festive foods, Raja continues to remain a cherished symbol of Odisha’s cultural identity and respect for nature and feminine power.
