The decision follows a statewide audit that uncovered extensive manipulation in the birth registration system, particularly in rural regions. Officials found cases involving forged data, falsified identities and certificates used for property fraud, identity theft, and other illegal activities.

To help citizens verify their documents, the government has launched an online portal ahead of the July 1 activation deadline. Residents can confirm their birth certificate status using their Aadhaar details or registration number. A senior registrar official said the initiative aims to “renew trust and maintain legal dignity.”
