New Features Include Call Transfer, Waiting Room, HD Video and Screen Sharing

WhatsApp users no longer have to depend on the desktop application to make audio and video calls from a computer. The platform has introduced audio and video calling on WhatsApp Web, allowing users to make calls directly through a browser on a desktop or laptop.

The new update also brings several additional calling features designed to make WhatsApp Web more convenient and feature-rich.

Audio and Video Calls on WhatsApp Web

With the new calling feature, users can make audio and video calls from both individual and group chats directly through WhatsApp Web. They will no longer need to separately download or install the WhatsApp Desktop application for browser-based calling.

The calls continue to be protected by end-to-end encryption, helping maintain user privacy and security.

Call Transfer Across Devices

WhatsApp has also introduced a Call Transfer feature. Users can transfer an ongoing video call from their smartphone to a larger screen and continue the conversation on a tablet, WhatsApp Web or the Desktop app.

This feature is expected to be particularly useful when users want to switch devices during an ongoing call.

Group Call Waiting Room

Another new addition is the Waiting Room feature for group calls. Users can create a group call link, and participants clicking on the link will first enter a virtual waiting room. They can join the call after receiving approval from the group administrator.

HD Video and Screen Sharing

WhatsApp Web also supports fast HD video, along with popular features such as screen sharing, call history and favourites.

The latest additions are aimed at making WhatsApp Web a more powerful calling platform while offering users greater flexibility across devices.
