Tensions in West Asia intensified after Iran launched a fresh wave of ballistic missiles and drones targeting the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The UAE’s air defence systems successfully intercepted the incoming threats, preventing major damage.
Air Defence Systems Neutralise Threats
According to the UAE Ministry of Defence, the attack occurred between Sunday night and early Monday. Security forces intercepted 25 drones and four ballistic missiles before they could reach critical targets.
Officials confirmed that the country remains on high alert and is fully prepared to counter any further aggression.
Debris Injures Indian National
Despite the successful interception, debris from a destroyed missile fell in the Al Shawamekh residential area of Abu Dhabi. An Indian national sustained minor injuries and was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Authorities have assured that his condition is stable.
Authorities Urge Calm Amid Rescue Operations
The Abu Dhabi Media Office stated that emergency and rescue operations are underway in the affected area. Residents have been urged to rely only on official updates and avoid spreading or believing unverified information on social media.
Rising Number of Interceptions
Since the conflict began nearly four weeks ago, UAE defence forces have intercepted a significant number of aerial threats, including:
- 1,773 drones
- 345 ballistic missiles
- 15 cruise missiles
These figures highlight the sustained intensity of attacks and the country’s ongoing defensive operations.
US-Iran Tensions Add Fuel to Conflict
The latest strike comes amid heightened rhetoric between the United States and Iran. US President Donald Trump recently warned Tehran to ensure open access to the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours or face potential military consequences targeting its infrastructure.
Iran Responds with Defiance
In response, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian asserted that Iran would not be intimidated by threats. In a statement posted on social media platform X, he emphasized that while the Strait of Hormuz remains open to all, it would not tolerate actions undermining Iran’s sovereignty.
Regional Tensions Continue to Escalate
The latest developments signal a dangerous escalation in the ongoing conflict, with rising risks of a broader regional confrontation. As military activity intensifies, global attention remains fixed on West Asia, with fears of further instability and its impact on international security and energy supplies.
