Uttar Pradesh to Issue Birth and Death Certificates Within 24 Hours

Yogi Government Launches ‘One Day Governance’ System for Faster Civic Services Across Uttar Pradesh

People in Uttar Pradesh will no longer have to make repeated visits to government offices for birth and death certificates. The Yogi Adityanath government has decided to provide these essential documents within just 24 hours under a new “One Day Governance” system.

The initiative aims to make public services faster, more transparent and citizen-friendly. Along with birth and death certificates, several property and housing-related services will also be completed within a single day.

One Day Governance Centres to Be Opened

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced plans to open “One Day Governance Centres” in all municipal corporations across the state. The announcement was made on Tuesday by Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma.

According to the minister, the centres will ensure timely and hassle-free delivery of civic services. In the first phase, the new system will be launched in Prayagraj, Varanasi and Gorakhpur. Preparations for the centre in Lucknow have already been completed.

Gujarat Model to Be Implemented in UP

The state government said the objective behind the initiative is to prevent people from running from one office to another for basic certificates and approvals.

Officials said the new system has been inspired by the “One Day Governance Model” introduced in Gujarat during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure as Chief Minister.

The Uttar Pradesh government now plans to gradually expand the model across the entire state so that citizens can receive services quickly without long delays.

Faster and Transparent Public Services

Minister A.K. Sharma said the initiative would provide citizens with fast and transparent services in a time-bound manner. He added that urban residents would benefit greatly from the simplified process and improved efficiency in municipal services.

The government believes the move will reduce bureaucratic delays and improve public satisfaction.

Special Facilities for Senior Citizens

The minister also stated that special attention has been given to people who are unable to access online services, especially senior citizens.

The centres will include waiting areas and basic facilities, including refreshments like tea, to ensure public convenience. Officials described the initiative as an important step towards modern and smart urban governance in Uttar Pradesh.
