Thirteen skilled youths from Odisha are set to represent India at the 48th WorldSkills Competition 2026, scheduled to be held in Shanghai, China, from September 22 to 27.
The international competition will take place at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, bringing together nearly 1,400 young competitors from 70 countries across 64 skill categories.
Odisha Sends 13 Top Competitors
The 13 competitors from Odisha were selected following their strong performances at the IndiaSkills Competition 2025–26 in New Delhi, where Odisha topped the medal tally.
The participants include Debasish Gouda and Prasad Kumar Das in Landscape Gardening, Priyanshu De in Web Technologies, Rasmita Kaur Hanspal in Hotel Reception, Debasish Panda and Aditya Prakash in Autonomous Mobile Robotics, Pitambaram Rishikesh in Water Technology and Rajeev Lochan Chand in Graphic Design.
Others include Jagannath Mishra in Industrial Mechanics, Jhansirani Rout in Restaurant Service, Krishnanjali Sahoo in Patisserie and Confectionery, Parshuram Majhi in CNC Turning and Sumit Bhujabal in Industrial Control.
Berhampur ITI Students Represent India
Debasish Gouda and Prasad Kumar Das, students of Government ITI, Berhampur, will represent India in Landscape Gardening. Both won gold medals at IndiaSkills 2025–26 and underwent specialised training in Ahmedabad and Noida under the guidance of their mentors.
The Indian contingent has reached Shanghai via Bangkok from New Delhi. Odisha’s competitors are now preparing to showcase their skills on the global stage and aim to bring recognition to the state and the country.
