Rajinikanth’s much-awaited film Jailer 2 is generating considerable excitement ahead of its scheduled theatrical release on October 15, 2026. Advance bookings have begun, and the film has reportedly received a positive response in overseas markets. Ticket sales are also gaining momentum in India, although bookings have opened for only a limited number of shows so far.
According to the figures cited from BookMyShow, around 380 shows had been listed in the Indian market at the time of reporting. Advance booking had not yet opened for all shows, but early sales indicated encouraging interest among moviegoers.
As of 12:36 pm Indian Standard Time, approximately 2,790 tickets had reportedly been sold online during the preceding hour. Excluding seats booked for the opening day, around 38,100 tickets had been sold, according to the report.
Jailer 2 Advance Booking Collection
The film’s reported opening-day advance booking figures in India are as follows:
- Opening-day advance gross: ₹64.05 lakh
- Net collection: ₹54.28 lakh
- Overall occupancy: 27%
Trade expectations suggest that ticket sales could increase further as advance booking becomes available for more shows and locations.
Chennai Leads Advance Booking Sales
At the time of reporting, advance booking in India had reportedly opened only in Tamil Nadu. Chennai emerged as the leading city in terms of advance booking revenue, followed by Madurai.
The reported city-wise figures are:
- Chennai: ₹30.01 lakh
- Madurai: ₹11.77 lakh
- Tiruchirappalli: ₹6.83 lakh
- Coimbatore: ₹6.43 lakh
Chennai accounted for the largest share of the reported advance booking revenue, reflecting the strong interest surrounding Rajinikanth’s latest film in Tamil Nadu.
Can Jailer 2 Beat Jana Nayagan’s Record?
The film’s advance booking performance has raised questions about whether Jailer 2 can surpass the opening-day advance booking record associated with Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan in Kollywood in 2026.
As a sequel to a successful film, Jailer 2 is expected to benefit from audience familiarity with the franchise and Rajinikanth’s popularity. Estimates cited in the report suggest that its opening-day advance booking revenue could potentially reach ₹30 crore if ticket sales continue to rise in the coming days.
Another major target will be the reported opening-day gross collection record of ₹37.2 crore set by Rajinikanth’s Coolie.
However, whether Jailer 2 can surpass these benchmarks will depend on the pace of advance bookings, the number of shows added and audience demand closer to release. With several days remaining before its theatrical debut, the film’s final advance booking figures are yet to be determined.
