Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to the people on National Space Day and urged the country to dream bigger, innovate more and explore new frontiers.
In a message on social media platform X, Modi said India has the Tricolour, space and the dreams of 1.4 billion citizens. He described these as the country’s major resolve and highlighted the growing role of the space sector in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Gen-Z Driving India’s Space Ambitions
The Prime Minister highlighted the growing contribution of Gen-Z engineers, designers, coders and scientists to India’s space programme. He said young Indians are working on advanced technologies involving propulsion systems, composite materials, rocket stages and satellite platforms—areas that were difficult to imagine a few years ago.
Modi said India’s space talent is creating a distinct identity globally, while the country’s space sector is emerging as an attractive destination for global investors.
He also highlighted the inspirational impact of ISRO’s achievements on children across the country. According to the Prime Minister, rocket launch countdowns are inspiring millions of children to dream of becoming scientists and aeronautical engineers.
Celebrating Chandrayaan-3 Achievement
National Space Day is observed every year on August 23 to commemorate the historic soft landing of the Vikram lander of Chandrayaan-3 near the Moon’s south polar region in 2023.
With the successful mission, India became the first country to land near the Moon’s south polar region, marking a historic milestone in the country’s space journey.
The Chandrayaan-3 achievement showcased India’s growing scientific and technological capabilities and further strengthened its position in the global space sector.
