TCS Nashik Unit Under Scanner in Alleged Forced Conversion Case; Employees Shifted to Work From Home

TCS Orders Work From Home for Nashik BPO Unit

Overview

In a widely discussed case from Maharashtra, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has reportedly taken a major operational decision amid allegations linked to its Nashik unit. The company has instructed all 150 employees of its Nashik BPO unit to work from home until further notice.

The development comes in connection with a controversial investigation involving allegations of religious coercion and workplace misconduct.

Work-From-Home Order at Nashik Unit

According to internal directions, all employees at the Nashik facility have been asked to operate remotely. The company has also reportedly instructed its administrative and HR teams to ensure strict compliance with the directive.

No official office-based operations are being conducted from the Nashik premises at present.

Allegations of Forced Religious Conversion

The controversy stems from a police complaint filed in March 2026, alleging that certain employees and HR officials of TCS’s BPO division pressured Hindu employees to convert to Islam.

The complaint includes allegations that employees were:

  • Forced to offer namaz prayers
  • Pressured to consume beef
  • Subjected to insults against Hinduism

It has also been alleged that female employees faced harassment and coercion.

Serious Charges of Harassment and Blackmail

As per the complaint, some women employees were allegedly:

  • Offered job-related inducements
  • Threatened with the circulation of private photos and videos
  • Pressured into religious conversion under fear and intimidation

These allegations have intensified the seriousness of the case and led to widespread public attention.

Police Investigation and Arrests

Following the complaint, police investigations identified an HR executive, Nida Khan, as a key accused in the case. She has been accused of ignoring employee complaints and allegedly supporting the accused individuals.

Authorities have so far registered nine FIRs in connection with the case and arrested seven individuals, including HR personnel and team leaders.

All arrested accused are currently being interrogated.

Government Action and SIT Formation

Given the sensitivity of the matter, the Maharashtra government under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations in detail.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials have not yet issued a final conclusion on the case.
