In a major technological advancement aimed at strengthening railway security, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of East Coast Railway has launched DSC ARJUN (Dedicated Security Chassis Advanced Railway Junction Under Network Enabled Surveillance), an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered robotic surveillance platform designed to improve passenger safety, station monitoring and operational efficiency.
The AI-enabled security robot was unveiled in the presence of the General Manager, East Coast Railway, senior railway officials and RPF personnel. The launch marks a significant step towards creating a smart and technology-driven security ecosystem across railway stations.
Equipped with advanced Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Machine Learning and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, DSC ARJUN will assist RPF personnel in round-the-clock surveillance and real-time security management.
The robotic platform comes with several advanced features, including AI-based facial recognition, crowd analytics, passenger counting, unattended baggage detection, suspicious activity identification, public announcements, live video streaming and instant alert generation. These capabilities will help security personnel take faster decisions and respond effectively to potential threats.
DSC ARJUN is designed to operate across platforms, station concourses, booking counters, waiting halls, parking areas, parcel offices and other sensitive locations. It will support crime prevention, crowd management during peak hours, protection of railway assets and emergency response during incidents such as fire, medical emergencies and security threats.
The introduction of DSC ARJUN follows the journey of robotic policing in Indian Railways that began in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic with the development of Captain ARJUN by Central Railway. East Coast Railway had earlier introduced the humanoid robot ASC ARJUN at Visakhapatnam Railway Station on January 23, 2026.
According to railway officials, the new platform represents the next phase of AI-based railway security solutions. By combining advanced technology with the expertise of RPF personnel, DSC ARJUN aims to create a safer, smarter and more passenger-friendly railway environment while safeguarding critical railway infrastructure.
