In view of the intense heatwave sweeping across the state, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced early summer vacation for all schools starting April 27.
Decision Taken to Ensure Student Safety
The decision has been taken keeping in mind the health and safety of students amid rising temperatures. The proposal put forward by the School and Mass Education Department received the Chief Minister’s approval.
All Schools to Remain Closed from April 27
As per the announcement, all government, government-aided, and private schools across Odisha will remain closed from April 27. The move comes as part of precautionary measures to protect children from extreme weather conditions.
Vacation to Continue Till June 17
School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond confirmed that the summer vacation will continue until June 17. The closure will also apply to anganwadi centres and training institutions across the state.
Exams and Official Work to Continue
Despite the closure of schools, previously scheduled examinations, census-related activities, and other official work will continue as planned.
Decision After Review Meeting
The minister further informed that the decision was finalized after discussions with the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), following which the Chief Minister approved the early vacation.
The move is being seen as a significant step by the state government to safeguard students and staff from the ongoing heatwave conditions.
