Japan was jolted by a powerful earthquake on Sunday morning, triggering concern among residents across the northeastern region of the country. The earthquake, measured at magnitude 6.1, struck off the coast of Iwate Prefecture, according to reports. However, no tsunami warning was issued following the tremors.

The earthquake occurred at around 7:25 am local time, with its depth estimated at nearly 40 kilometres below the Earth’s surface. Strong tremors were felt in Iwate and Aomori prefectures, as well as several nearby areas. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as repeated seismic activity has increased the risk of landslides in vulnerable regions.

So far, there have been no reports of casualties or major damage caused by the earthquake. Officials have advised people to remain alert and follow safety guidelines, especially in areas prone to landslides.

Meanwhile, strong earthquake tremors were also felt in several parts of India recently, including Delhi-NCR and northern states. The earthquake, which recorded a magnitude of 6.2 on the Richter scale, caused panic among residents. Many people rushed out of their homes and offices after feeling intense shaking. However, no major loss of life or property was reported.

The tremors were also felt in Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of northwestern India. Reports suggested that the impact of the earthquake was experienced across several countries, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.

With multiple earthquakes being reported in recent days, experts have urged people in affected regions to stay cautious and follow official advisories.
