The Ratna Bhandar of the Shri Jagannath Temple in Puri will be reopened on August 31 and September 1 for the counting and inventory of precious gems and ornaments stored inside the treasury.

The dates for the inventory have been finalised keeping in view the temple’s festival schedule and following consultations with the temple commander. The entire exercise will be carried out in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) approved by the Odisha government.

Preparations are underway for the counting and verification of the valuable jewellery and other precious items stored in the Ratna Bhandar. Officials have indicated that the process will follow the same strict procedures and precautions adopted during the previous inventory exercise.

The Ratna Bhandar houses valuable ornaments and other precious items associated with the centuries-old traditions of the Shri Jagannath Temple. The inventory process is therefore expected to be conducted under tight security and with detailed documentation.

The temple administration has been making arrangements to ensure that the entire process is completed systematically and safely. The temple’s Chief Administrator has also sought the cooperation and support of all servitors and devotees during the exercise.

The reopening of the Ratna Bhandar has attracted considerable public attention, particularly because of the historical and religious significance attached to the treasury and its contents.

All eyes are now on August 31 and September 1, when the counting and inventory process of the precious gems and ornaments is scheduled to take place. Further details regarding the process and arrangements are expected to be announced by the temple administration.
