Extreme Temperatures Continue to Scorch Western Districts

Western Odisha continues to reel under intense heatwave conditions, with Jharsuguda recording the highest temperature of 44.7°C on Tuesday. Several other districts also witnessed soaring temperatures, including Bargarh at 43.9°C, Boudh at 43.5°C, and Balangir at 43.3°C.

Temperatures in Sambalpur and Nuapada reached 43.2°C, while Sundargarh, Hirakud, Titilagarh, and Rourkela recorded around 43°C each. Overall, at least 15 cities in the state crossed the 40°C mark.

Yellow Warning Issued for Heatwave and Warm Nights

The regional meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning for heatwave conditions in districts such as Balangir, Kalahandi, Boudh, Nayagarh, and Subarnapur.

In addition, warm night conditions are expected in districts including Jharsuguda, Balangir, Kalahandi, Boudh, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and Subarnapur. High nighttime temperatures may prevent the body from cooling down, increasing health risks.

Coastal Odisha Sees Relief but Humidity Remains High

While western Odisha is experiencing extreme heat, coastal regions have seen a slight drop in temperatures. Cuttack recorded 36.8°C, while Bhubaneswar reported 36.5°C.

Other coastal cities like Gopalpur recorded 31.4°C, Puri 32.4°C, and Balasore 38.3°C. However, high humidity levels are making conditions uncomfortable, leading to a “hot and humid” feel.

Humidity Warning for Coastal Districts

A yellow warning has also been issued for districts such as Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati, where people are likely to experience high humidity along with heat over the next four days.

Thunderstorm Possibility and Temperature Outlook

Weather experts have indicated the possibility of Kalbaisakhi (thunderstorms) in some parts of the state over the next couple of days. However, no significant change in temperature is expected immediately, though a slight drop of 2–3°C may occur later.

Bhubaneswar Weather Forecast

The weather in Bhubaneswar and nearby areas is expected to remain partly cloudy, with chances of afternoon showers. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 37°C, while the minimum may remain close to 27°C.
