In a major step towards enhancing global connectivity, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated a new Visa Application Centre operated by VFS Global in Bhubaneswar. The facility aims to make international visa services more accessible and convenient for residents of the state.

Visa Services for 10 Countries in First Phase

The newly launched centre will initially provide visa services for ten countries, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Austria, Estonia, Italy, Malta, Switzerland, Japan, Morocco, and Egypt. The Chief Minister noted that additional countries are expected to be added in the coming phases, expanding the scope of services.

Ease of Travel for Odisha Residents

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Mohan Charan Majhi stated that the centre will greatly benefit people of Odisha who previously had to travel to Kolkata to submit visa applications. The new facility ensures a more seamless and efficient process closer to home.

State Support and Strategic Location

The Odisha government has provided approximately 3,000 square feet of space for the centre at the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Bus Terminal in Barmunda. The centre is designed to deliver a smooth application experience with modern infrastructure and services.

Driving Industry, Tourism, and Global Engagement

The Chief Minister emphasized that the initiative will promote industrial growth, boost tourism, and strengthen international engagement. He also acknowledged the support of the Central Government under Narendra Modi in facilitating the establishment of the centre.

Step Forward in Global Mobility Infrastructure

The inauguration marks a significant milestone in strengthening Odisha’s global mobility infrastructure. Senior officials, including embassy representatives from Austria, Italy, and Switzerland, along with top state government officials, were present at the event, underlining the importance of the initiative.
