From Darshan to Drama: Family Finds Burglar Hanging in Exhaust Fan in Kota

Incident Reported in Pratap Nagar Under Borukheda Police Station

A burglary attempt in Kota, Rajasthan, took an unusual and dramatic turn when a thief became trapped while trying to enter a locked house through a kitchen exhaust vent. The incident occurred on the night of January 4–5 in Pratap Nagar, under the jurisdiction of the Borukheda police station.

The house belonged to Subhas Kumar Rawat, who had been away with his wife on a religious trip since January 3.

Family Returns to Shocking Scene After Temple Visit

Rawat and his wife had gone on a darshan holiday to the Khatu Shyam Ji temple. When the couple returned home around 12:50 AM, they were startled to see the cover of the kitchen exhaust fan open.

To their shock, they discovered a man hanging halfway inside the exhaust vent, with part of his body inside the house and the rest outside, unable to move.

Thief Trapped Despite Desperate Escape Attempts

Panicked by the sight, the couple raised an alarm, alerting neighbors in the area. The suspected thief attempted to free himself but remained stuck in the narrow opening. Residents gathered at the spot as the bizarre situation unfolded.

Police were informed immediately and arrived at the scene at around 1:15 AM.

Police Rescue and Arrest Suspect on the Spot

Police personnel carefully removed the trapped man from the exhaust vent and arrested him at the scene. During the search, officers found a car key in his hand, raising suspicions of a planned burglary.

According to the police, another accomplice was stationed on the rooftop to keep watch but fled the scene upon the arrival of the homeowners.

Suspicious Vehicle With Fake Police Markings Spotted

During the investigation, police noticed a suspicious car parked nearby, reportedly bearing fake police markings and white curtains. The vehicle was seen moving through nearby lanes and is believed to be linked to the fleeing accomplice.

Authorities are now examining CCTV footage from the area to identify and track the remaining suspects. Special police teams have been formed to pursue further investigation.

Locals Call It Divine Intervention

Although no major theft took place, locals believe the timely return of the family prevented a serious crime. Many residents described the incident as a stroke of luck or even a blessing of Khatu Shyam Ji, given the family’s recent temple visit.
