Historic Achievement in Defence Technology

India has marked a major milestone in its defence journey by successfully testing the Agni Prime missile from a rail-based mobile launcher for the very first time. The trial, conducted by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), showcased India’s leap into the next level of strategic defence capability.

Seamless Launch and Range Accuracy

Using a specially developed hand-wired rail platform, the intermediate-range ballistic missile was launched with precision, achieving its target range of up to 2,000 km with ease. The missile demonstrated not only accuracy but also enhanced operational flexibility.

Defence Minister Congratulates DRDO and Forces

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced the achievement through a post on X, congratulating the DRDO, Strategic Forces Command (SFC), and the armed forces. He emphasised that this places India among a select group of nations possessing rail-based missile launch technology.

Advanced Features and Strategic Advantage

Equipped with advanced navigation and radar systems, the missile ensures precise targeting while incorporating optimised evasion features to counter enemy defence systems. The mobility of the rail platform allows deployment to any border region swiftly, strengthening deterrence against adversaries and enhancing India’s strategic posture.

Strengthening National Security

The rail-based mobility makes the system fast, flexible, and difficult to track, turning it into a powerful war asset. This successful test reflects India’s rising capabilities in the indigenisation of advanced war technology, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to self-reliance and stronger national security.
