The four-day international conference INDOCRYPT was inaugurated today at the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bhubaneswar, marking the beginning of a major global dialogue on cryptography and information security research and innovation.

INDOCRYPT has brought together world-renowned experts, researchers, academicians and industry professionals from across the globe. The conference is focused on deliberations around the latest trends, scientific breakthroughs and emerging challenges in cryptography—an area that has become increasingly critical in the digital era.

Minister Highlights Role of Cryptography in Digital Governance

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Minister for Law, Works & Excise, Shri Prithviraj Harichandan. Addressing the gathering, the minister underlined the growing importance of cryptography and information security in strengthening digital governance, legal frameworks and skill ecosystems. He noted that platforms like INDOCRYPT play a vital role in shaping effective policymaking and building robust digital infrastructure.

Eminent Scholars Lead Technical Sessions

The first day of the conference featured three high-impact technical sessions delivered by eminent scholars including Prof. Pantelimon Stănică from the Naval Postgraduate School, USA, Prof. Sugata Gangopadhyay from IIT Roorkee, and Dr. Luca De Feo from IBM Research Europe. The sessions offered deep insights into recent advancements in cryptographic theory and practice, highlighting both current applications and future research directions.

Academic Leadership and Welcome Address

The welcome note was delivered by Prof. Ashish Ghosh, Director of IIIT Bhubaneswar, along with Dr. Debashis Jena, in the presence of distinguished academicians such as Prof. Bimal Roy of ISI Kolkata and Dr. Indivar Gupta, General Chair of the conference.
