K. Kavitha Quits BRS After Suspension by KCR

In a dramatic twist in Telangana politics, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K. Kavitha has resigned as a Member of Legislative Council (MLC) and quit the party. Her decision came just a day after her father and BRS supremo K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) suspended her. The exit, accompanied by sharp allegations of betrayal and conspiracy, has fueled speculation about deeper divisions within the family-dominated party.

Kavitha Questions Suspension After Release from Jail

Speaking to the press, Kavitha expressed her shock at being suspended. She said that since her release from Tihar Jail, she had been working tirelessly on several causes for the party. “How can my work be called anti-party?” she asked, noting that her activities at various events were twisted and used against her by some within the organisation.

Open Letter Targets Family Politics

In an open letter to her father, Kavitha urged KCR to be cautious of those around him. She warned her brother K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) not to place his trust in their cousins Harish Rao and Santosh, whom she accused of conspiring with Congress and BJP to weaken BRS. Mocking their wealth, she remarked that Telangana’s prosperity cannot be measured by the “golden houses” of a few individuals.

Allegations of Conspiracy with Revanth Reddy

Kavitha further alleged that Harish Rao and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had conspired against her family, citing a common flight as the backdrop of their collusion. She insisted that Revanth must answer these allegations, stressing that both internal rivals and external forces are determined to keep the BRS family divided.

Political Fallout and Future Uncertainty

Kavitha’s resignation comes soon after her release on bail in a high-profile case. Analysts suggest that her renewed activism may have clashed with BRS’s strategies as the party struggles to regain ground after electoral setbacks. Her dramatic exit raises key questions: will it trigger further defections from BRS, or force internal reforms within the party? For now, her warnings echo in Telangana’s political circles, leaving uncertainty over the party’s future.
