Virat Fever Grips Visakhapatnam as 3rd ODI Tickets Vanish in Minutes

Ticket Frenzy as Kohli’s Back-to-Back Hundreds Ignite Visakhapatnam Ahead of Decider

he coastal city of Visakhapatnam is buzzing with excitement as cricket fever reaches its peak ahead of the India vs South Africa third ODI on December 6. Fans are eagerly waiting to witness what could be another historic knock from Virat Kohli, whose back-to-back centuries have triggered a massive rush for match tickets.

Ticket Sales Surge After Kohli’s Consecutive Hundreds

When the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) opened online ticket sales on November 28, the initial response was lukewarm despite prices ranging from ₹1,200 to ₹18,000. Seats remained largely vacant — until Virat Kohli smashed a century in Ranchi.

“The response was not very encouraging, but after Kohli scored his hundred, tickets were no longer available for even a single minute,” said Y. Venkatesh from the ACA operations and media team.

Following his second ton in Raipur, the demand skyrocketed, forcing ACA to shut down the second and third phases of ticket sales on December 1 and 3 within minutes due to overwhelming traffic.

Visakhapatnam: A Happy Hunting Ground for Kohli

Virat Kohli enjoys an exceptional record in Visakhapatnam, with three ODI centuries at an astonishing average of 97.83 at the venue. Fans believe they could witness history as the 37-year-old attempts a rare third consecutive ODI hundred — a feat he last achieved in 2018.

With India winning in Ranchi by 17 runs and South Africa pulling off a record chase of 359 in Raipur, the final ODI has become a high-voltage decider, adding to the frenzy.

Fans Swarm Airport to Welcome Team India

Excitement peaked further as huge crowds gathered at Visakhapatnam Airport to welcome Kohli and the Indian team on their arrival. The city is now decked up for the grand showdown, with thousands preparing to pack Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Stadium.

A City Ready to Cheer for Its ‘King’

As anticipation builds, Visakhapatnam is ready to roar for its beloved ‘King’ Kohli. Fans hope to witness another sparkling knock that could seal the series for India and cement the match as one of the most memorable cricket nights the city has ever seen.
