No Gas Crisis in Odisha: Minister Tells Public ‘Don’t Panic’
State Assures Uninterrupted LPG Supply; Centre Boosts Commercial Quota to Ease Concerns
Bhubaneswar: The Government of Odisha has reassured citizens that there is no shortage of cooking gas in the state, amid rising concerns and panic over supply disruptions. Authorities have emphasized that both domestic and commercial gas supplies remain stable and sufficient.
“No Need to Panic,” Says Supply Minister
The state’s Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister has urged people not to be alarmed, stating clearly that there is no dearth of LPG cylinders. He stressed that unnecessary fear could disrupt normal distribution and advised citizens to remain calm.
“Stocks are adequate, and there is no disruption in supply. People should not be frightened or misled,” the minister said.
High-Level Meeting to Review Situation
To further strengthen confidence and ensure smooth distribution, the state government is set to convene a high-level meeting. The discussion will focus on monitoring supply chains, addressing logistical challenges, and ensuring uninterrupted availability of cooking gas across Odisha.
Centre Boosts Commercial Gas Supply
In a significant move, the Government of India has approved an additional 20% commercial gas quota, increasing the total allocation to 40%. This enhanced supply is expected to benefit restaurants, hotels, and other commercial establishments.
Officials confirmed that discussions are ongoing to secure a further 10% increase, which could meet nearly half of the commercial sector’s demand.
Relief for Hospitality Sector
The increased quota is likely to provide major relief to the hospitality industry, ensuring uninterrupted kitchen operations in restaurants, hotels, and catering services. Businesses that were worried about supply constraints can now expect more stability.
Domestic Supply Remains Unaffected
Authorities have reiterated that domestic LPG distribution continues without any disruption. Households across the state are receiving cylinders as usual, and there is no impact on regular supply schedules.
The minister also assured that any complaints related to gas supply will be addressed promptly by the concerned departments.
Positive Outlook for Consumers and Businesses
The government’s proactive approach, combined with additional support from the Centre, is expected to stabilize the situation further. The developments are likely to bring relief to both households and businesses, ensuring smooth functioning without any gas-related concerns.
