The craze for fancy vehicle registration numbers in the Delhi-NCR region has reached new heights, with a private company spending a staggering ₹27.50 lakh to acquire the prestigious UP16FH 0001 number plate, making it the most expensive registration ever sold in Noida.

E-Auction Sparks Intense Bidding

The Noida RTO’s online e-auction for the new private vehicle series UP-16 FH witnessed fierce competition as soon as the highly coveted 0001 combination was activated. Within hours of the starting price, the bidding surged, finally closing at ₹27.50 lakh.

After deducting the basic fee, the winning bidder completed the remaining payment of ₹27,16,667 online, as confirmed by the transportation department.

‘0001’ Plate Symbolizes Prestige and Wealth

Officials say the ‘0001’ plate is considered the most prestigious and desirable in the Delhi-NCR region.

“People spend hundreds of thousands of rupees to get their plate. For many, the vehicle plate reflects wealth and status,” said a senior RTO official.

The sale underscores how fancy registration numbers are increasingly viewed as status symbols, especially among luxury car owners.

Noida’s Luxury Transformation Highlighted

The record-breaking sale also reflects Noida’s rapid transformation into a luxury hub. Even four-digit registration combinations are now highly coveted, driving competition and prices to unprecedented levels.

The city, known for its modern buildings and wide motorways, has become a playground for luxury vehicles, where owners compete not just on speed and style, but also by displaying exclusive registration numbers.

“Those who drive luxury vehicles with prestigious number plates are regarded as members of the Noida elite,” the official added.

Luxury Number Plates as Status Symbols

The UP16FH 0001 sale is a reminder that in affluent urban hubs like Noida, even a vehicle’s registration number is now a marker of social status and wealth, contributing to the city’s reputation as a centre for luxury and exclusivity.
