Odisha CM Reviews Model Primary School Project, Stresses Faster Execution
CM Mohan Majhi Reviews Progress, Calls for Accurate Cost Estimates and Enhanced Infrastructure for Young Learners
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) of Odisha held a high-level review meeting on Monday to assess the progress of the Pandit Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Primary School Project, a key initiative aimed at strengthening primary education infrastructure across the state.
The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhavan, focused on crucial aspects such as land identification for schools, building design, and cost estimation for the project.
During the review, the Chief Minister directed officials to expedite the construction work of all schools where foundation stones have already been laid. Emphasizing future needs, he also suggested increasing the number of classrooms in the schools to accommodate growing student strength.
Majhi stressed the importance of preparing accurate and realistic cost estimates at the initial stage of construction. He assured that additional funds would be allocated wherever necessary to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
Highlighting the needs of young learners, the Chief Minister instructed that adequate provisions for both education and play activities should be incorporated into the school design. He emphasized that primary school children require a balanced environment that supports both learning and physical development.
The meeting was attended by School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Development Commissioner D.K. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Shashwat Mishra, Finance Department Principal Secretary Sanjeeb Mishra, and Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the School and Mass Education Department Dr. N. Thirumala Naik, among other senior officials.
