Odisha Police Athletes Celebrate Gold, Silver, and Bronze Wins in National and State Competitions

In a special ceremony today, Odisha Police athletes who have achieved remarkable success in various state and national level competitions were felicitated for their exceptional performances.

Ceremony Held at Police Bhawan, Bhubaneswar

The event was organized at the Police Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, with State Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania attending as the chief guest. During his address, DGP Khurania lauded the athletes for bringing pride to the state and the Odisha Police. He noted that their achievements would inspire the younger generation in Odisha to take an active interest in sports.

Stellar Performances in National Championships

Notably, Odisha Police athletes excelled at the recently held All India Police and Senior National Championships 2026, winning multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals across various disciplines.

In rowing events, Ritu Kawdi and Sonalika Das secured gold medals. Odisha Police athletes also demonstrated impressive performances in canoeing, kayaking, karate, and athletics, further establishing their prominence in competitive sports.

Record-Breaking Feats at State Level

Meanwhile, during the 74th State Police Athletics Championship 2025–26 held in Cuttack, seven Odisha Police athletes set new “meet records” across 11 different categories. Among the standout performers were Bighnaraj Miridia, Ashok DandSena, Susmita Tiga, and Sabita Tappo, who showcased exceptional skill and determination to set new benchmarks in their respective events.

Promoting Sports Among Youth

The Odisha Police’s consistent success in both state and national competitions not only reinforces the department’s commitment to sports but also encourages young people across the state to engage in athletic activities. Their achievements are seen as a source of inspiration for aspiring athletes in Odisha.
