Popular actor and model Shefali Jariwala, best known for her iconic appearance in the 2002 music video Kaanta Laga and her stint on Bigg Boss 13, has passed away at the age of 42. Her sudden death has sent shockwaves through the Indian entertainment industry.

Jariwala was reportedly rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai late on Friday night, June 27, by her husband Parag Tyagi and three others. Upon arrival, she was declared dead by the attending medical staff.

Unclear Cause of Death, Police Begin Probe

Preliminary reports suggested that the cause of death might be cardiac arrest, but the Mumbai Police have clarified that the exact cause remains unknown pending the results of a postmortem, which is being conducted at Cooper Hospital.

The police were alerted around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday and have since launched a preliminary investigation. A forensic team has inspected Jariwala’s residence in Andheri, and officials have begun questioning family members, including household staff such as the cook and maid, to reconstruct the events leading up to her death.

Early Stardom and Career Highlights

Shefali Jariwala rose to fame at the age of 20 with her performance in Kaanta Laga, a remix music video that quickly became a cultural phenomenon. She started her career in the entertainment industry at the age of 15, later appearing in Bollywood films and popular television reality shows, including Bigg Boss 13.

As news of her passing spread, several celebrities took to social media to express their grief. Singer Mika Singh posted on Instagram:

“I am in a state of shock, sadness and with a heavy heart. Our dearest dear friend @shefalijariwala is no more with us.”

Actress Karishma Tanna also mourned the loss, writing:

“Heavy heart. This is shocking. Too early found.”

Postmortem Report Awaited

While initial speculation pointed to cardiac arrest, Mumbai Police emphasized that no official cause has been confirmed.

“The body was found at her residence in Andheri. The cause of death is unclear until the postmortem is completed,” an officer told ANI, adding that the findings will determine the next course of the investigation.
