Sri Lankan Officials Arrive in Odisha for Specialized Training

A delegation of 30 Sri Lankan officials arrived in Odisha today to participate in a five-day training programme. The initiative is being organized under the facilitation of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, in collaboration with the Information and Public Relations Department (I&PR), Government of Odisha.

Courtesy Call to Chief Minister

During their stay, the visiting officials will have the opportunity to meet Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. They will also tour various cultural, historical, and heritage sites to gain deeper insights into Odisha’s rich legacy of art, culture, history, and Buddhist monuments.

Focus on Disaster Communication & Media Strategy

The main training sessions will be conducted at the Revenue Officers’ Training Institute, where the officials will learn about the role of media during disasters, both before and after calamities.
Additionally, a special module will be held at Kalinga Stadium to study the successful media strategy adopted during the Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup.

Exposure to Odisha’s Heritage and Culture

The itinerary includes visits to:

  • Dhauli Shanti Stupa to experience the message of peace

  • Konark Sun Temple to witness timeless architecture

  • Chilika Lake to admire its natural beauty and biodiversity

  • Odisha State Museum to understand the state’s glorious art, culture, heritage, and history

  • Boyanika to experience Odisha’s weaving traditions and textile heritage

Academic Engagements

On the very first day, the delegation visited KIIT University, where they interacted with academic and cultural representatives.

Warm Welcome by Officials

The Sri Lankan delegation was welcomed by senior officers of the I&PR Department, including Director Anuj Das Pattnayak, Director (Technical) Gurveer Singh, Additional Secretary Bishnupriya Sahu, and Deputy Director Sucheta Priyadarsini, along with other department officials.
