South Superstar Thalapathi Vijay Announces Retirement from Films
Thalapathi Vijay bids farewell to films and prepares to focus on his political journey in Tamil Nadu
South Indian superstar Thalapathi Vijay has officially announced that he will retire from acting, marking the end of an illustrious film career. The actor revealed that he will now dedicate his time and energy to politics, following the launch of his political party, Tamilaga Vetti Kazhagam, last year. The news comes as a shock to his fans, who have long admired his work on the big screen.
A Heartfelt Goodbye to Cinema
Vijay shared his emotional decision, stating, “People come to the cinema halls and wait in long queues just to see me. I want to be there for them for the next 30–33 years in a different way.” Reflecting on his journey, he added, “From the very beginning, I have faced criticism in all forms. But my fans have stood by me. I entered cinema hoping to build a small home, but you all have given me a palace.”
Final Film: ‘Jan Nayakan’
Vijay’s last film, “Jan Nayakan,” is scheduled for release on January 9, 2026. The movie, directed by H. Vinod, features a star-studded cast including Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamita Baiju, Gautam Basudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narayan, and Priyamani. Prior to this, an audio launch event for the film was held in Malaysia on December 27, where Vijay described his final project as “painful” to bid farewell to.
Transition from Cinema to Politics
With his cinematic journey concluding, Thalapathi Vijay is now preparing for active participation in Tamil Nadu state elections, marking a major shift from the entertainment industry to political life.
