Odisha will launch the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list from May 30, aimed at ensuring an accurate, updated and error-free electoral roll across the state. A state-level preparatory meeting was held under the chairpersonship of the Chief Electoral Officer through virtual mode to review readiness for the exercise.

High-Level Review Meeting Held

The meeting included nodal officers from all districts, Deputy Collectors and District Information and Public Relations Officers (DIPROs). The Chief Electoral Officer directed officials to make the SIR process more efficient, transparent and free from errors.

Key focus areas included new voter registration, correction of existing entries and migration updates. Officials were instructed to ensure that no eligible voter is left out during the process.

Door-to-Door Survey by BLOs

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door surveys as part of the revision exercise. Authorities have been asked to ensure that the process remains simple, transparent and free from misinformation.

District officials have also been directed to prepare special strategies for smooth execution of the survey and voter verification process.

Action Against Misinformation on Social Media

The CEO warned officials to actively counter misinformation related to SIR on social media platforms. District public relations officers will closely monitor online content and immediately respond to any fake or misleading information with factual clarification.

Forms in Odia and Public Awareness Drive

All enumeration forms will be made available in Odia to help rural voters understand the process easily. Public awareness campaigns will be launched to educate citizens about providing correct information during verification.

The toll-free helpline number 1950 will also be widely publicised to assist voters with information and support.

Coordination Between Departments

Officials stressed strong coordination between the Election Department and district administrations. Online applications will be expedited, and Booth Level Officers will be made more active to ensure smooth implementation of the voter list revision process across Odisha.
