The award was presented during the Second International Sand Sculpture Festival held in the Kaliningrad region of Russia.

The prestigious title recognizes Pattnaik’s outstanding contribution to the field of sand art and his powerful sculpture highlighting the urgent issue of global warming and environmental conservation.

Historic Achievement at International Sand Sculpture Festival

The international festival commenced on June 11, 2026, and brought together 12 leading sand artists from different countries. Each participant showcased remarkable artistic creations, making the competition highly competitive.

A special jury committee unanimously selected Sudarsan Pattnaik for the Grand Sand Master Cup 2026, making him the first Indian sand artist to receive this distinguished international honour.

Award-Winning Sculpture Carries Environmental Message

Pattnaik’s award-winning sand sculpture, standing nearly three metres tall, depicted two contrasting faces of the Earth. One side portrayed a dry and damaged planet suffering from environmental degradation, while the other symbolized hope through tree plantation and environmental protection.
