Heavy Rain Alert Issued for Southern Odisha Till June 28
Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre issues orange and yellow alerts as heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected across Odisha districts.
Several parts of southern Odisha are likely to witness heavy rainfall till June 28, according to the Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre. The weather department has issued alerts for multiple districts, warning of thunderstorms and strong winds.
Districts including Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, and Gajapati are expected to receive heavy rain accompanied by lightning and thunder. The Meteorological Centre has advised residents to remain cautious in view of the adverse weather conditions.
Orange Alert Issued for Six Districts
An orange warning has been issued for Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada, and Kalahandi districts for the next 24 hours. Heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms is likely in several areas of these districts.
The weather department has also predicted gusty winds with speeds reaching 40 to 50 kmph in some locations. People have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during thunderstorms and stay alert for possible weather-related disruptions.
Coastal Odisha Under Yellow Warning
Apart from southern Odisha, several coastal districts may also experience rainfall and strong winds. The Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow warning for these areas.
Earlier on Wednesday, rainfall was reported in places including Daringbadi and Nabarangpur. Weather conditions are expected to remain active across Odisha due to the ongoing monsoon system, bringing relief from heat but increasing the possibility of heavy rain-related challenges.
Authorities have urged people to follow weather updates and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.
