Commissionerate Police Steps Up Preparations for Durga Puja in Bhubaneswar

With the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja approaching, the Commissionerate Police has stepped up preparations to ensure that the festival is celebrated peacefully, safely and in an orderly manner across the capital city.

A high-level review meeting was held at the Police Seva Bhawan with members of the Bhubaneswar Durga Puja Committee, Peace Committee and Immersion Committee. The meeting was chaired by the Police Commissioner and attended by senior Commissionerate Police officials and representatives of various puja committees in the city.

The meeting focused on identifying and resolving issues at different puja mandaps before the festival and ensuring smooth and safe darshan facilities for devotees.

As part of the security arrangements, puja committees have been directed to install adequate CCTV cameras at all puja mandaps and their surrounding areas. The surveillance arrangements are aimed at strengthening security and monitoring crowd movement during the festivities.

The Commissionerate Police has also prepared a special blueprint to maintain law and order and manage traffic effectively during the Durga Puja celebrations.

Puja committees have been asked to take necessary fire safety measures and ensure the availability of arrangements required for emergency services at the mandaps.

Representatives of the puja committees assured the police administration of their full cooperation to ensure a peaceful and well-organised celebration.

The Commissionerate Police will also deploy adequate personnel across the city. Plainclothes personnel and special patrol teams will be deployed at strategic locations to strengthen security and prevent any untoward incidents during the festivities.

The police said coordinated efforts with puja committees and other stakeholders will be undertaken to ensure the safety and convenience of devotees throughout the Durga Puja celebrations.
