Five-Day Induction Training for Odia PGTs Concludes in Bhubaneswar

A five-day induction training programme for Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) teaching Odia concluded on Sunday at IMAGE, Siripur, Bhubaneswar.

The programme was organised by the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE) under the School and Mass Education Department, Odisha, with the objective of strengthening the subject knowledge, pedagogical skills, classroom practices and professional competencies of teachers.

Around 100 Odia PGTs from Government Higher Secondary Schools and Government Upgraded Higher Secondary Schools across Odisha participated in the training programme.

The valedictory session was attended by DHSE Director Niyati Pattnaik, Additional Director Binita Senapati, Joint Director Sasmita Mali and Deputy Director Jitendra Nayak.

Addressing the participating teachers, Niyati Pattnaik stressed the importance of continuous learning and professional development in the teaching profession. She encouraged teachers to keep updating their knowledge and adopt effective approaches to improve classroom learning.

Additional Director Binita Senapati highlighted the role of induction training in enhancing the professional skills, confidence and classroom preparedness of newly appointed PGTs. She said such programmes provide teachers with an opportunity to understand their responsibilities and strengthen their teaching practices.

Joint Director Sasmita Mali delivered the welcome address, while Deputy Director Jitendra Nayak proposed the vote of thanks. He expressed appreciation to the resource persons, participating teachers and officials involved in conducting the programme.

Focus on Teaching and Classroom Practices

During the five-day programme, teachers received orientation on effective teaching-learning practices, subject-specific pedagogy and classroom management. The sessions were designed to help participants strengthen their approaches to teaching Odia and improve classroom engagement.

The programme also provided a platform for teachers to interact with one another, share knowledge and exchange experiences from their respective schools.

The induction training concluded with an emphasis on continuous professional development and the need for teachers to apply the knowledge and practices gained during the programme in their classrooms.
