Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi distributes appointment letters to 2,067 Sevak-Sevika staff and tribal language teachers, taking total government recruitments since June 2024 to 48,642.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday distributed appointment letters to 2,067 candidates at the 18th state-level job fair held at the Krushi Shiksha Sadan auditorium on the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) campus in Bhubaneswar.

The appointees include 1,913 Sevak and Sevika staff and 154 tribal language teachers for schools under the Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development Department.
With these appointments, the total number of people recruited through the state government’s employment initiatives since June 2024 has reached 48,642. The Chief Minister said the government was fulfilling its commitment to fill vacant posts in phases. He also highlighted that 28,693 teachers have been appointed so far.
Majhi emphasised the importance of education and employment in empowering the youth. He said the state government was taking special measures to improve educational opportunities for Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste communities, which account for around 40 per cent of Odisha’s population.
Highlighting mother-tongue education under the National Education Policy, he said school-level teaching was being provided in 10 tribal languages, including Santali. He also referred to the Shaheed Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Yojana, which provides financial assistance to students to help reduce school dropout rates.

The Chief Minister noted that Odisha now has 69 Eklavya Model Residential Schools and has introduced an overseas scholarship scheme for 50 meritorious students annually.
Advising the newly appointed teachers, Majhi urged them to create a safe learning environment, build students’ confidence and guide them like friends. He stressed discipline, dedication and ethical conduct, warning that irregularities in the mid-day meal programme and inhuman punishment of students would not be tolerated.
He also appealed to personnel posted in flood-affected areas of southern Odisha to assist affected residents.
Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development Minister Nityananda Gond and Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari congratulated the recruits and emphasised their role in shaping future generations. Other ministers, elected representatives and senior officials attended the programme.
