The tournament, held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, New Delhi, from January 13 to January 19, culminated with India’s spectacular triumph in the finals on Sunday.

The Indian women’s team showcased their exceptional skills, defeating Nepal with a decisive score of 78-40. Their performance highlighted the growing strength of women in indigenous sports, inspiring young female athletes across the nation.
Historic Victory : Men’s Team Secures the Title
The Indian men’s team added to the glory with a solid victory, scoring 54-36 against Nepal. Their strategic gameplay and dedication ensured a historic win, marking India’s dominance in Kho Kho on the world stage.

Odisha’s Sports Minister, Suryabanshi Suraj, attended the finals and congratulated the players. He expressed pride in Odisha’s role as a sponsor, saying, “Kho Kho is our indigenous sport. This historic victory fills us with pride and glory. Odisha is committed to supporting the growth of Kho Kho and inspiring millions of young athletes across the nation.”

Notably, Odisha players Magai Majhi and Subhashree Singh represented India in the women’s team, while Pabani Sabar was part of the men’s team. Their contributions were pivotal in securing the championship.
Odisha’s Commitment to Kho Kho Development
The Odisha government has pledged Rs 15 crore over three years (2025-2027) to sponsor the Indian National Kho Kho Teams, providing Rs 5 crore annually. This long-term support underscores Odisha’s dedication to promoting indigenous sports.
