Apology Delivered After Super-8 Loss

In an exclusive interview with The Indian Express, Yadav revealed that he personally apologised to Axar after India’s Super-8 match against South Africa at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Axar had missed the group game against the Netherlands due to a minor injury, but Yadav’s tactical decision to replace him with Washington Sundar backfired when India suffered a 76-run defeat.

“He was very angry, and he should have been,” Yadav said. “He’s an experienced player who has captained a franchise side. I went up to him and said, ‘It’s my mistake; I regret it.’ It wasn’t an easy conversation, but we sorted things out the next day.”

Axar Patel Returns to Turn Tournament Around
