Strategic Partnerships to Boost Downstream Industry

In a significant move to strengthen Odisha’s industrial ecosystem, Vedanta Aluminium has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with two leading manufacturing firms to accelerate the development of its aluminium park in Jharsuguda. The agreements were formalized at an event held in Bhubaneswar.

The MoUs were signed with Singhal Steel and Power Private Limited, a unit of the Singhal Group of Industries, and SCOT-AL Metcon Private Limited, associated with Scotty Chemicals Industry and UAL Industries. These partnerships aim to establish downstream aluminium production units within the park.

Government Support and Industry Participation

The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of senior officials from the Odisha government, including Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain and Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department Hemant Sharma. Their participation highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting industrial growth and investment in the state.

₹500 Crore Investment, 1,500 Job Opportunities

The project is expected to attract an investment of around ₹500 crore and generate approximately 1,500 direct and indirect employment opportunities. The aluminium park is designed to create a world-class industrial ecosystem for downstream aluminium industries.

The initiative aims to support the growth of MSMEs while positioning Odisha as a global aluminium hub. It is also expected to enhance industrial competitiveness and strengthen the state’s manufacturing capabilities.

Vision for Industrial Growth

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sampad Chandra Swain stated that the project would reinforce Odisha’s position as a leading industrial destination. He emphasized that the aluminium park would not only boost investment but also create large-scale employment and improve production capacity across sectors.

Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma noted that the aluminium park represents a major step in strengthening Odisha’s industrial value chain. By combining infrastructure readiness with policy support, the state aims to build a competitive and efficient industrial platform.

Vedanta’s Commitment to Odisha

Vedanta Aluminium CEO Rajiv Kumar highlighted the company’s commitment to developing a robust downstream ecosystem. He said the park would open new opportunities for industries, MSMEs, and local entrepreneurs while enhancing Odisha’s global standing in aluminium production.

Jharsuguda CEO C Chandru described the region as the heart of Vedanta’s growth journey. He added that the aluminium park would not only strengthen industrial infrastructure but also support sustainable livelihoods and regional development.

Phase One Development Underway

The first phase of the aluminium park is currently being developed over approximately 56 acres of land. The project is expected to become a milestone in Odisha’s industrial growth by integrating investment and production capabilities.

Vedanta stated that the park, as a downstream manufacturing hub, will help industries reduce logistics costs, optimize energy usage, and improve production efficiency—further contributing to the state’s socio-economic development.
