Odisha Government Introduces Matric Certificates in Odia for the First Time
Students to Receive Class 10 Certificates in Odia and English; Matric Results to Be Announced Soon
Focus on Promoting Mother Tongue
The Odisha government has taken a significant step to promote the mother tongue by introducing matriculation certificates in the Odia language. School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond announced that students will now receive their Class 10 board certificates in Odia for the first time. The certificates will also be available in English to ensure wider acceptance and usability.
Dual-Language Certificates for Wider Recognition
Officials stated that while prioritizing Odia, the inclusion of English in the certificates has been ensured to prevent any difficulties for students at national and international levels. The decision was taken after careful consideration by the board to strike a balance between regional pride and global accessibility.
Implementation Process Already Underway
Following the government’s announcement, the Board of Secondary Education has begun the implementation process. The matter was discussed in the board’s examination management committee meeting, and necessary steps are being taken to roll out the new format of certificates from this year.
Experts Welcome the Move
Education experts and intellectuals have welcomed the decision, stating that it will help in the promotion and preservation of the Odia language while maintaining academic credibility across broader platforms.
Matric Results to Be Announced Soon
The matriculation examination results are scheduled to be released tomorrow at 4 PM. Students will be able to check their results online after 6 PM on the official websites. Results can also be accessed via SMS by typing OR10 followed by the roll number and sending it to 5676750.
This year, approximately 5.61 lakh students appeared for the matric examinations across 3,082 centers in the state.
Plus Two Results Expected Later in May
The minister also informed that the Plus Two examination results are likely to be declared in the third week of May. Results for different streams may be announced on the same day.
