High-Level Review Meeting Held at Lok Seva Bhawan

Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, chaired a high-level review meeting of the Energy Department at Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, on May 5, 2026.

The meeting focused on ensuring reliable power supply during the upcoming summer season and Kalbaisakhi storm period. Senior officials including Additional Chief Secretary Energy Vishal Kumar Dev, CMD OPTCL Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, and CEOs of all DISCOMs attended the review.

Focus on Uninterrupted Power Supply Across Odisha

The Deputy Chief Minister directed all DISCOMs to ensure uninterrupted and quality electricity supply across the state. He emphasized that power disruptions during peak summer demand and storm conditions must be minimized.

He also instructed officials to resolve all consumer complaints on priority within fixed timelines.

Emphasis on Quality Infrastructure and Maintenance

Shri Singh Deo stressed the use of high-quality materials and accessories in maintenance and repair works. He said this would help reduce recurring faults and improve the overall reliability of the power distribution system.

DISCOMs were asked to strengthen monitoring mechanisms to ensure better service delivery.

Consumer-Centric Service Delivery Highlighted

Highlighting the importance of public service, the Deputy Chief Minister directed all energy department employees to maintain polite and proactive communication with consumers.

He also ordered an increase in the number of dedicated grievance redressal teams to ensure faster resolution of public complaints.

Safety Measures for Electrical Infrastructure

The review meeting also focused on public safety, particularly regarding electrical infrastructure during high wind and storm conditions.

The Deputy CM issued strict instructions on the installation of hoardings and billboards near power lines, asking DISCOMs and urban local bodies to ensure structural safety standards are strictly followed to prevent accidents during Kalbaisakhi storms.

Government’s Commitment to 24×7 Power Supply

Reiterating the state government’s commitment, Shri Singh Deo said Odisha aims to provide round-the-clock reliable electricity supply to all consumers.

He instructed energy department officials and DISCOMs to remain on high alert during the summer months and ensure prompt response to any emergency situations.

Weekly Monitoring and Compliance Reporting

The Deputy Chief Minister directed all concerned departments to submit weekly compliance reports on the action points discussed during the meeting.

This step, he said, would help ensure accountability and improve overall performance in the power sector.
